Picturing the Public in Black & White

Thanks to my friend Henry Farrell, over at Crooked Timber, I have another short paper available here and in the sidebar. It is a response to a newish - and very good - book by my colleague Robert Westbrook Democratic Hope: Pragmatism and the Politics of Truth (Cornell UP). I gave the paper at the APA (Pacific) Meetings last spring in Portland. In any case, if you have time or inclination you may find the paper interesting. It is a first stab at getting pragmatists to take photography seriously by taking off from the cover photo (by Russell Lee) on Robb's book.
