Florence Nightingale, "Fellow" of the Statistical Society of London (1858)

My friend Susan sent me the link to this little essay - "Worth a Thousand Words" - that appeared in The Economist a couple of weeks ago. It is interesting in large part because it reclaims a central place for a woman (who would've thought!) in the history of data graphics.
