This past week, The Guardian ran a slide show of work by the finalists for the newly instituted Prix Pictet which is meant to "recognize the image or body of photographic work that makes . . . the most outstanding contribution to the communication and understanding of global sustainability issues." This year the winner is Benoit Aquin for his work on the dust bowl being created in Northern China by rapacious agricultural practices. You can find a set of his images (accompanied by an essay by Patrick Alleyn) on this theme here at The Walrus.
Update: 4 November ~ You can find another slide show of the shortlisted work here at the BBC.
