Obama, Gates and the American Black Man

Yesterday The New York Times ran this Op-Ed - “Obama, Gates and the American Black Man” by Glen Loury. I have posted on his sensible views regarding race and crime in the U.S. here before. This new essay hits the nail squarely on the head.

Yup, great article. It's easy for anyone and everyone to decry the bad old days of racial segregation. But ask folks to reflect and engage on current realities and relations, and you come up with inanities such as, "I just don't see race." Uh-huh...

Such blatant, self serving denials only allow racism to continue to manifest itself not only in the criminal justice system, but in every other segment of society- including the arts:
