An Appropriate Irony ~ Christopher Hitchens (1949-2011)

Christopher Hitchens has died. You can find this obituary at The New York Times. He might have appreciated the irony that the war in Iraq "ended" at very nearly the same time [1] [2]. Thousands of lives squandered. Billions of dollars wasted. A multitude of causalities left behind. Every last death, dollar, casualty in vain. All on the basis of lies and bullshit from the Bush Administration. There is no irony in any of that.

You might enjoy this round up, which rightfully points to the unfortunate turn Hitchens took after 9/11, when he wound up backing the madness of our entry into Iraq...but also some choice moments from before that, too.

Very well said. It's always good to remind ourselves of this sad and simply criminal story.
