The are some things that are best colored red - like the deep red of rhubarb stalks. I am not a fan of rhubarb; it is not that I dislike it so much as that I have memories of eating fairly large quantities with sugar on childhood visits with my cousins. Of course, while we were really after the sugar, rubarb is quite fiberous - so you can imagine the outcome. Having offered too much informaiton, though, I will say that the red of rubabrb in a pie is very bright and enticing. It differs quite a lot from another of my favorites - the color of plums.

I think this photograph is terrific and funny that you should mention rhubarb and family memories. My nan had the best rhubarb in a corner of her garden that we would pick and turn into delicious pies. I do not recall any of the problems you give too much information about but perhaps I had less copious quantities. Thanks for the post and the memory jog and I do think this rhubarb is a wonderful color.

I'm glad you liked this. Every once in a while I try to post a more or less random photo. I like pies but sometimes they don't turn out all that well. Thanks for the comment.
