No Caption Needed

I want to call your attention to a newly released book - Robert Hariman and John Louis Lucaites. No Caption Needed: Iconic Photographs, Public Culture, and Liberal Democracy. (University of Chicago Press, 2007). I have not yet even seen an actual copy but I've known it was forthcoming for a while via email exchnages with the authors. I look forward to getting a copy. David Levi Strauss has written a review of this book and Mark Reinhardt, et. al. Beautiful Suffering: Photography & the Traffic in Pain, also published by Chicago. You can find it here.

I posted on the Reinhardt volume some time back and subsequently have written a review of it that is forthcoming in the Journal of Politics.

Among the pleasures of keeping this blog has been the chance to meet - virtually - a whole lot of people whom I never would encounter through my 'day job'. Bob Hariman and John Louis Lucaites and Mark Reinhardt are all among that group. I want to take the opportunity to say thanks to all the folks who leave comments here or send emails or who even just stop by to see what's up. Thanks!
