Resources for Patriots

Many American conservatives pride themselves on carrying around pocket copies of the constitution. They fancy doing so makes the patriots. Instead they ought to grip firmly Jefferson's Declaration of Independence. And they ought to heed Frederick Douglass's July 4th oration - given here at Rochester in 1852 or Eugene Debs's 1918 anti-war speech at Canton, Ohio. Or they might try Martin Luther King's "A Time to Break Silence" (1967) address at Riverside Church. There are, of course, other models of patriotism. But these would be a nice start.
